INDVD (In Vitro Dry Matter Disappearance)

    About INDVD

In Vitro Dry Matter Disappearance (INDVD) is a laboratory technique used to estimate the digestibility of feed ingredients. This method simulates rumen fermentation in a controlled laboratory environment to predict how much of the dry matter will be digested.

Supported Protocols: Tilley & Terry (Apparent IVDMD), True Digestibility (NDF-corrected), ANKOM DAISYII, Generic Residue Method

    Protocol Selection

Tilley & Terry: Use DM weights Ws (initial), Wd (final residue), Wb (blank). Output: %IVDMD (apparent).

    Single Sample Calculator

    Weight Measurements

    Blank Correction (Optional)

For calculating digestibility fractions (a, b, d values)

    Incubation Parameters

    Batch CSV Processing

Batch Mode: Process multiple samples from CSV file. Required columns depend on selected protocol.

Optional columns: Feed, Time_h, ReplicateGroup, Replicate

    Quality Rating Guidelines

    Excellent
    ≥ 65%
    Good
    60-64%
    Fair
    55-59%
    Poor
    < 55%
    • Incubation Time: 24h for concentrates, 30h standard, 48h for forages, 72h for mature forages
    • Quality Control: Always run blanks and standards with each batch
    • Digestibility Fractions: a (indigestible), b (potentially digestible), d (digested at time t)

    Important Notes

    • Ensure all measurements are taken at the same DM basis
    • Blank correction is essential for accurate results
    • Temperature should be maintained at 39°C throughout incubation
    • pH should be checked and maintained between 6.5-7.0
    • Results are estimates and should be validated with in vivo studies
